I am having problem to connect my workbench in my laptop to any clients (both Andriod and Ipad).
Any way to debug what went wrong?
Thanks!
can't connect between workbench & client
Re: can't connect between workbench & client
are you possibly on a network that has client isolation?
client isolation means that each client on the network is effectively on its own - and is unable to communicate to other devices on the network. this is common for public hotspots or corporate network environments. since the client must communicate directly to the workbench - you must be on a network that supports inter-client communication.

In fact, it happened to my own house. I did check my gateway and router's setting. The "ap isolation" is off.
I can use phone apps to control my Xbox and Sony player. I think they are also using Wi-Fi communciation. really can't figure out what went wrong...

Re: can't connect between workbench & client
if the scan isn't working, it is most likely due to UDP packets not being received on the workbench to reply to the client during discovery.
are you on the same subnet? 192.168.0.x (or, depending on your setup) - the workbench and client must be on the same subnet to communicate with each other. if UDP broadcast is being disabled and you know your IP address of the machine running the workbench, you can enter it manually within the client using the text field provided. it will look something like http://192.168.0.10:4042

Thanks for your reply!
Yes, all my devices are in the same network 192.168.1.xx. If I type the http://192.168.1.66:4042 as shown on bottom of my workbench to my web broswer, I can see Clients:1. The web browser can see the "RUN." Really can't find what went wrong, so frustrated...

Can you connect to http://192.168.1.66:4042 in your phone's web browser?
Re: can't connect between workbench & client
I believe using a manual IP technique works.
What this means is the UDP broadcast isn't being received on the workbench computer which could be a firewall configuration on the computer itself possibly?

Re: can't connect between workbench & client
Thank you so much for ALL! I used a desktop instead of my laptop. It worked!
I don't understand what is going on as I turned off all the firewalls in my laptop already. It means that it is not my gateway and router issues.
Thanks a lot!

Re: can't connect between workbench & client
we are constantly working on improving the tools - we are very close to releasing 1.0 of our development tools, UDP scanning is one area we are focusing to improve on and hopefully can either address the issues or let users know what they need to do instead to make it work (ie: manual entry of URL)
Re: can't connect between workbench & client
Hi ,
So currently,I am using a public wifi and I think this disables my connection between the workbench and the client. Is there another way I can connect them because I am doing this as a job and the company uses public wifi.
I also tried the url IP address and it doesnt work.
Thanks.
Sam
